and make it past your color tv

(January, 2006. Homantin, Hong Kong.)

Aside from my Rufus-Pretty Things broadcast: Last night, even though it was pouring rain, Andrea and I went to see my fairy girl sweetheart Noel (illustrator and musician) play a gig in West Hollywood. It was the sweetest happy-sad pretty music I've heard in a while. (Go check it out, I esp. recommend Fool and Love Boat. Go on. I've been playing those songs all morning.)

Major trauma afterwards when I realized, 2 hours after we'd left, that I'd left a roll of shot film in the club. I thank Miss Offermann for being supportive and understanding in our search and rescue efforts, esp. when 411 kept giving us the number to that cat shelter... I don't recall ever having lost film before, but last night, just the possibility freaked me out to no end. Your mind is focused on the shot, and you *do* lose sight of other things when you start shooting. Which is one of the reasons why photographers have assistants, and when it works, the arrangement frees them up and allows them to concentrate on shooting...
