Aka Day 1. We made really good time and got there by 4:30pm-ish. Before the trip, I told Asako that I would be stopping at the Grand Canyon. Her response: "Why would you want to stop there? It's a big hole in the ground. And it looks just like the photos."
Asako's right, it is a big hole in the ground. And does look just like the photos. It's quite fantastic though. Walked around the trail around the south rim of the canyon, and waited for sunset.
In the mean time, my bag of Calbee's potatoe sticks has turned into a balloon pillow thing. We're at more than 2,000 m above sea level! (Also, most toiletries have gone ever so slightly explodey when I open them.)

I miss you too! *^o^* (How can you be missing the pile of mess in your living room? :P)
In terms of your インターネット, why do you think I put that as your homepage? :P So you'll always remember to チェックわたしのブローグ。うん、世の中本当に便利になったね。^_- あ、そうだ、今日ミツワで買ったコップラーメンを食べた。So glad we got it! :P
Well, it -is- just a big hole in the ground...but big things (once you grasp how truly huge they are) are often very, very impressive.
(And it's a *pretty* hole in the ground. Water-sculpted plateaus with sedimentary strata...of course, I'm a geologist's son, so I may not be impartial. ;)

Just it's a very pretty hole in the ground. And now you've seen it... :)
Darker -- It *is* very pretty. Really glad we stayed for the sunset, even though we were really starting to feel cold by then. :P
Eeeeka -- Yes indeed! We debated whether we wanted to see the Meteor Crater, but at $15 per person, we passed on the second biggest hole in the ground in AZ, since we've already seen the Grand Canyon. :P
