but what if i'm a mermaid

(August, 2006. Palm Springs, California.)

I used to wonder if the little mermaid could string the bubbles together for a necklace, more shimmering and shifting and beautiful than pearls or shells or coral or anything weighed down by their solidity.

I still do.

I swear our brain waves somehow crossed. Recently I had Tori Amos' song "Silence all these years" stuck in my head... "but what if I'm a mermaid, with these jeans of his with her name still on it, but I don't care, cos sometimes, I say sometimes I hear my voice, I hear my voice, I hear my voice and it's been years....silent all these years." Don't know, been in such a self reflecting mode lately. Miss having you around

Evie-chan -- How much Tori do you have? You should really check out the albums Little Earthquakes and Under the Pink for starters... or in terms of recent albums Scarlet's Walk, I'm partial to that too. I like her music, and her lyrics. (I've probably quoted them in blog titles a dozen times now. :P) And yeah, definitely good for introspection.

I keep saying you should check out Ben Folds' newer stuff... and I like Rufus Wainwright, but he's not for everyone, I know.

Miss you too, girl! *hugsquish*
