(August, 2006. SoHo, New York.)My favorite character on Sesame Street is the Cookie Monster.
Aside from his wonderful blue fuzziness and wild goggly eyes, I love that he knows what he wants, pursues it unabashedly, and revels and rejoices when he gets it. I feel so happy seeing him stuff himself, crumbs and pieces flying!

hmmm, this reveals a deeper insight to my Mimi, this Cookie Monster preference...me, i am a Grover girl, always going from point A to point B, near & far, there & back again.
yep, that seems about right, you & me. plus we are both blue. same alien species....love you, cookie.
I know a couple of people who really love Grover, but somehow I didn't latch on to him. Cookie now... I *heart* him to bits! (Love you too, my blue alien sister.)
p.s. Oscar makes me want to hug him, felt traumatized by the whole Big Bird Snuffie thing, like Ernie on his own but feel really bad for Bert and pissed off at Ernie when he plays tricks on/otherwise tortures Bert...
The Blackbird is a big Sesame Street fan, even though she's only two. She can ID a handful of characters by name, and understands the word "monster" enough to correctly apply it to her Abominable Snow Monster plushie [from the Rudolph Xmas special]. Cookie Monster is one of her favorites--I think largely because she knows the word "cookie."
Thas -- BWAHAHAHAHA~!! Cookie is indeed an important word.
