soonish (もうすぐ30才)

(November, 2005. Los Feliz, California.)

We were walking back to her apartment when Katherine asked me, "So, what are you going to do on your big birthday this year?" I kind of stared at her. "Isn't it a bit early to consider that just yet?... But, hey, do you know what day Thanksgiving is gonna fall on?"

Never had this problem until I came to the US. Suddenly, my birthday is butting heads with a major holiday and almost everybody leaves town. These pictures are from last year... Miyuki and a few of us went out to see a movie at the Arclight, and then she and I had a little birthday apple pie a la mode at the House of Pies. I had a lovely time. If I plan anything for this year, it'll likely be something small and comfortable, even if this is one of those milestone type birthdays.

p.s. Just looked it up, Thanksgiving is going to fall exactly on my birthday this year. Gah!

I am watching a docu on eggs right now. I most certainly hope our life gets more interesting when we get there.
I'll tell you how it actually feels in a month's time.

Miyu -- Got your email -- you hang in there! I'll give you a call tonight... Like my friend Robert said, he loves Art Center, but if he could, he would bomb the administration.

Miss Jet -- There's a docu on eggs? ... it's nearly 7pm and it's making me hungry. You let me know how it is when you cross over... :P

Bill -- No, it's not so bad. My problem is that everybody skips town to be with their family, so very often I'm kinda deserted by all my friends that week, depending on how many of my friends are *not* American and whose families are not in the States. Feel bad for your sis! My two sisters, one of them was born on Halloween, and the other one's birthday is 12/18, not exactly Christmas, but close enough. :P

Also, caught up with your blog -- WHAT THE HELL??? x_x

My sister's birthday is Christmas, also. She always hated that--even insisting she have her party a couple weeks early so it wouldn't get lost in holiday stuff.

My grandmother's birthday was Nov. 1--All Saints Day--which her kids (or my dad, at least) liked to teased her about.

And Leander's is July 4, so at least he'll get to watch fireworks on his birthday each year. (We could see last year's Charles River fireworks from the window of Eeeeka's hospital room, but not from the bed. So she had to settle for Quicktime movies on the digicam.)

Thas -- Your family seems to have a knack for it too. ^_^; Sucks for Eeeeka! That's unfortunate, cos she probably heard the sounds of the fireworks but had to wait for a replay. I don't know if fireworks are legal in MA, but just watch Leander turn into a pyro: Birthday = Happy = FIREWORKS!! :P :P :P
