five star hotels
Work tomorrow, and for the rest of the week, starting with assisting a photographer at a fashion shoot in a hotel suite/balcony/around there. (Not this hotel, which is the Peninsula, but *this* hotel.)
Still, nothing in my mind beats the Peninsula for old world charm and class, and afternoon tea in the Lobby cafe is still one of my favourite things on earth.

mid autumn
It was the Mid Autumn Festival last Friday (Oct 6th). No moon cakes for me, but I did buy some pears. Kat, Pijus and I made a point to go take a look at the moon after dinner but was thwarted by a heavy bank of clouds. (We looked at New Jersey instead.) It had gotten cold that day, like we've skipped fall and gone straight to winter, and we froze a bit as we walked down Hudson River.
But just as we've given up, on our way back we did manage to glimpse the moon for a few seconds through a thin patch in the clouds, so I guess all was not lost!

up/downtown
The Upper East Side seems to be quite accident prone lately, first a doctor blows up his own townhouse on 62nd, and now a small plane crashes into a high rise on 72nd.
In the mean time, I find myself on the 6 train a lot, running downtown cos most photographer's studios and resources (labs, camera stores etc.) are there.

okay...
Blogger's been having trouble uploading photos, so stayed tuned I guess.
(Also, am fine. I live on the Upper East Side, but I'm not that close to the plane crash.)

short trip to october
Autumn came while I wasn't looking. I drove to Virginia this weekend and felt the temperature fall and the seasons shift. The bite in the air followed me back to New York.
(The title of this entry stolen from my friend Lisa, who was in Virginia for the past few days working on her kinetic sculptures, including the one with that name. You're back in California and I'm in my tower in New York, and I miss you already.)
